Fairy Smiles

Now that spring is here, I do a lot of waiting and watching - both kids are involved in spring sports and it means I'm at some practice or game most nights. Lately, I've been stamping out images and coloring them during practices. Today's image was colored a few days ago and today I sat down to put a little design together.

This is one of the first fairy's I ordered from Paper Makeup and she's finally getting inky. I stamped her with palette noir ink and colored her with prismacolor  and copic markers.

Copic Markers: Eoo, B02, B05, R29

Prismacolor Markers: walnut, cool grey 20%

I wish I could tell you where the sentiment is from. I usually write initials of the company on the EZ Mount but this one got all smudged so I can't give total credit. If you recognize, the stamp, let me know please.

The patterned paper is from Frances Meyer (teen blue stripes).

As is my way, I kept the design fairly simple.

Art Tree

Happy Friday! Mo took the day off and we went on a day trip with the kids to one of my favorite places - Newport. Mo and I have a weekend away every year to Newport and we always say we'll come one day with the kids and picnic and fly kites and make a day of it. Well, today was the day. It was a great day (if a wee bit windy) and I'm tired and probably off to bed early. But I have a card from yesterday to show you.

All the stamps from today's card are from Paper Makeup. They not only have their wonderful fairies but some pretty neat other stuff as well.

To make the background, I took a glossy piece of cardstock and 91% rubbing alcohol. I combined the alcohol and key lime reinker (CTMH) on a felt pad and dabbed it all over the cardstock. I then added breeze reinker (CTMH) to the same felt pad that had the key lime and alcohol and continued to pounce away. The background you see is my final result.

Then I stamped the tree with Stazon Ink. The sentiment is stamped with palette noir ink and punched out with the SU oval punch. I finished it off with some dew drops/rain drops (don't know which) and decided to call it a day as I'm all for simple.

The Sky Challenge

Another weekend coming to a close. I am always amazed at how quickly time flies, especially the weekends. Speaking of time flying, its been two weeks since my Ocean's 11 SKY challenge but I like to say better late than never! We were challenged to have some sort of sky in our creation.

As soon as I stamped up some of these dandelion fairies from Paper Makeup, I decided that this image would be part of the sky challenge.

The fairy is stamped with palette noir ink and colored with a variety of copic and prismacolor markers, along with a metallic gel pen for her wings and a copic spica pen for some sparkle on the dandelion. Her hair is colored with a prismacolor pencil and blended with baby oil.

For the sky I used chalk and applied in a random sort of fashion. It's hard to really see from the picture but I promise, its there.

I don't have any dew drops but I did pick up these rain drops (I think thats what they're called) from Stamping Bella and I'm assume they are the same as dew drops. I decided the corner needed a little extra something so I figured rather than just admiring all them lined up in their cute little bottles, I'd actually use some.

My brackets for the tournament are not completely a bust but I'm guessing I'm not winning any pools. Oh well, if I end up doing really bad, I can always root for Mo's brackets. Have a great day!

Shamrock Fairy

Have you seen the new stamp company Paper Makeup Stamps? I first heard about them on Splitcoast and of course HAD to click the link. Go on, I know you want to click it. These fairy stamps are awesomely cute. I ordered a few to give them a try. They are red rubber stamps with nice deep etching and give a wonderful clear stamped image. I liked the first one so much, I've already pre-ordered the new fairy's coming out next week!

My little fairy is stamped with palette noir ink and colored with a combination of prismacolor and copic markers. Because I never know what color to do hair, her hair is colored with a pc pencil and blended with baby oil (I'll show some pics of this later in the week so stay tuned Barbara). I also used a Sakura gelly roll metallic pen for parts of her outfit and her wings. Her hair and the shamrock have just a tiny bit of spica pen on them for extra sparkle.

The sentiment is from River City Rubber Works. The layout here revolves solely around my nesties, which include the label dies with the sentiment.

A note about card size.....95% of the time I make A2 cards (5.5 x 4.25). On this one, I wanted the entire focus to be on my fairy so I cut this down just a wee bit. The final size is 5.5 x 3.5 inches.

And a little PSA: Along with other yearly checks, don't forget the skin doctor. A skin check is quick and easy but oh, so important. Can you tell that today was my yearly check? And thankfully, I'm clear for another year. I think about my teenage years and all that tanning and I shudder to think about it! That's the end of my lecture - have a great day!
