Thinking of You with Ribbon

Sometimes I like to create cards that encompass many occasions - that way if I need a birthday, sympathy or congrats card, I'm good to go. That's where the "thinking of you" sentiment comes in so handy. LOVE that one.

This simple design is a fun one that helps me use my (MANY) embossing folders and feel like it was money well spent. The strip here is ribbon over cardstock but I also like using patterned paper strips too. Good way to use up extras.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Celebrate CAS

This month I challenged my ArtFire guild members to create a card using stars or stripes that were either red, white or blue.

I stretched the definition of stripe for today's card but since I run the guild, I'm saying this one works - LOL!

The swooshy stripe is from a set from Raisin Boat and I stamped it first and second generation for the variation in color (midnight muse - one of Stampin' Up's new In Colors). The sentiment is from paper and stamped with SU's red ink.

I thought this one would be fun for birthday's or other events as well as possibly 4th of July. I see maybe adding a small embellishment somewhere around the sentiment, maybe stars, maybe balloons, maybe even a grad hat on the letter C to personalize it for a specific card theme. But for now, I will keep it simple and leave it as is.

I do have a couple other ideas floating around that I will try to create before our challenge deadline of the 30th. And THAT all depends on crafting time now that the kids are out of school! Have a great day!

Scrapping This Week

As I've been unpacking more boxes, I've realized just how many pictures I have accumulated over the years. Now I need to do something with them!

So what have I been doing? Working with my 2012 pictures! It doesn't help get rid of all those extra pictures I have but I'm enjoying working on this year. Here's just a couple of new additions to my scrapbook junque journal:

What's also nice is I'm working my way through my supplies. I still haven't unpacked half of what I own so I'm trying to use up what I can actually see!

Midnight Muse Sympathy Card

I am loving the new Stampin' Up catalog (and just wait until you see the holiday mini - it's fantastic!). I was intrigued with this year's In Colors and have been trying them out. Today I used the Midnight Muse ink and card stock for my card.

The flowers are from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from Verve, I think.

I am still practicing with the new type of ink pads. They remind me a lot of the chalk ink pads and the more I use them, the more I really like them. Although it doesn't look it from this card, the coverage is really nice with the more solid type stamps. I've liked them enough to start the changeover from the old stamp pad to the new ones.

Stamping has been light this past week as it's been the last week of school - today being the last day, woohoo. I think I'll be able to breathe and get more crafty time in now that the late spring/end of school/early summer rush is over.

Thank You Lacrosse

As the spring sports season winds to an end, it's time for coach thank you cards. I went ultra simple this year because the month of June is so jam packed it's only a blur at the moment.

I pulled out the new gumball green card stock from Stampin' Up - love it - it's such a fun color. I can already tell that I'll be using it a LOT in the next two years before it retires!

The stamp is from Raisin Boat, one of the few companies that actually has any lacrosse stamps.

And considering each kid has four coaches, simple was the way to go!

Announcing the Move

It took me about a month to get enough things unpacked (the paper cutter mystery was finally solved) and settled in before I started my moving announcements. I knew I wanted to use photo's to make them but went through several ideas before settling in on the final design.

For the front of the announcement, I took a picture of the house and converted it to black and white. Since the house is white with black shutters, I thought it would look nice in a b/w color scheme. Our front door is red so I pulled in a red layer and added the grey with black layers to finish it off.

Card size on this is an A7.

For the back, I originally was just going to print out our moving information on a large white layer of card stock but couldn't find my white card stock so I improvised.

We had tons of boxes still around so I wrote "we've moved" in Sharpie and then all that was needed was the smiles.

The grey layer contains our address and phone information. I printed that off on grey cardstock as the final layer to be added.

What I so enjoy about crafting is that my initial direction took me on a meandering route that ended with a completely different project than I had anticipated. It's been fun seeing where this project ended up.

To Wish You Well

As I'm unpacking more boxes, I'm finding new cards to show off. Today I have another black and white card for you.

This is a layout design that I like working with. The top is embossed with a folder and the edge is covered up with this pretty scalloped ribbon from Stampin' Up. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Summer Bucket List

Alright, school vacation starts in just 2 1/2 weeks so it was time to get serious on the bucket list. The kids helped us make the list and now it was time to make it look cute, crafty and summery.

After a trip to the scrapbook store (any excuse) for cute stickers, we thought these bright colors would be fun and really get attention.

The list was printed on tangerine card stock and each page was connected before adhering to bright summery yellow card stock.

The title was made from alphabet stickers and some fun washi tape. Meg wanted to sun in the corner.

Standing at about 5 feet tall, it is perfectly placed in our kitchen for all to see. Once we start doing some of the items, we'll check them off in the boxes.
