If you are a fan of clean and simple stamping, you probably know that Susan (LateBlossom at Splitcoast) is one of THE BEST CAS STAMPERS EVER! Yes, I needed to shout that. Anyway, a few days ago she posted this post and I almost fell over. How perfect were these cards? How wonderful was this CAS design? Since I had been struggling to come up with Christmas thank you's that Conor and Meghan could send out, I knew I had to try using Susan's layout.
The crazy thing about CAS stamping is that it looks easy. But. it's. not. Especially when you have fallen in love with a layout and it's just not working for you. But since the kid's needed to get these thank you's out in a timely fashion, I slogged through until I came up with a design. I will freely admit that it doesn't come close to the original but I've learned that sometimes, you've just got to let go. (And I created something so deliciously CAS today that I'm feeling better about this subpar attempt. But you don't get to see today's card until, well, maybe I'll cave and show it to you Monday).
The image is from Doodlebug and stamped with Memento tuxedo ink. The sentiment is from Papertrey and stamped with Memento ivy ink. The patterned paper is from Bobunny (seafoam dot). I added a Taylor's tiny twinkle (Taylored Expressions) on the present for just a hint of bling.
I know, I know. You are saying that this took you that unseemly amount of time to come up with. I'm telling you that CAS is tricky that way. But the good news is that the cards are written and mailed so I've closed the chapter on the angst they caused.
We took the kids out for dinner tonight to celebrate New Year's and they are now embroiled in Wii Indiana Jones. Since I have trouble working the two controls at once, I'm off to cheer them on (and maybe craft since they play on the opposite side of the basement that my studio is on). I wish you all things wonderful for the upcoming year. May 2010 bring you good health and happiness. Night!
What a beautiful CASE! Love the idea! I agree, CAS can be so difficult!
