Ssssh - what's that sound? Yes, it's silence. It's the unexpected sleepover that has rendered my house silent and still. We had the family over today for dinner and as everyone is leaving, the kids are bickering. I say jokingly, who's taking them home with them? Next thing I know Meghan's working it and my FIL says sure, why not. They'll be back by lunchtime tomorrow but for the moment the beautiful sound of silence prevails.
Last week I posted my butterfly card from Stampin' Up's God's Beauty set. Today, rather than show my creations, I'm showing some of God's. A couple of weeks ago my mom and I took the kids to the butterfly museum, a yearly summer jaunt for us. As usual I brought my camera - love it there. One of these days, I'm going up myself and just staying there for a few hours. I find it one of the most relaxing places (mainly because I don't mind butterflies dive bombing my face). So sit back and enjoy.....
The hardest part is to get pictures of them when they open - that's when they are at their prettiest.
This poor butterfly has seen better days. They are so delicate that it doesn't take much for their wings to break.
This one was a bit beat up too (see the left wing).
I've decided I want a butterfly bush so we'll have butterflies next year. And I found out their hardy enough for New England winters.
This one is so cool in person. The whole inside part of the wings are completely clear/sheer. I forget what they are called but they look incredibly delicate in person. The only reason you see any red at all is you are seeing the feeder through the clear wings.
There were two butterflies hanging right side and upside down. I went for a pic of the upside down one.
And here is the last of my pictures. I like how colorful this guy is. In person the greens are so electric - I have yet to be able to capture that in a picture.
I am now off to enjoy the quiet....hope your day was a great one!
