My valentine week of projects continues. Today I have Meg's valentines and the cute presentation for school. Yes, I know I go overboard but its funand makes me happy and if mom is happy.....well, that helps keep the whole family happy!
Making lollipop covers is such a fun way to send treats into school. I also feel that with all the allergies out there, I'm the safest with lollipops. I know, that doesn't cover everything but I do the best I can knowing the kids' histories in class.
This is little Lilly from Pink Cat Studio. I was jumping with joy when this adorable set came out this past month. It's like they knew exactly what I wanted. Lilly is colored with copic markers. I do not know where the xoxo stamp came from. Its an old wood one that I unmounted and never wrote the pertinent info onto for times like this. If I had been in a complete pinch, I would have just written the xoxo's with marker.
So now I have all these cute lollipops. How best to get them to school? I was on a roll and decided to create an altered piece for lollipop transport.
Ta da! Here is my Lilly Lolly Tree. First I took a terracotta tray and painted it red. I then spray painted a white cone red. The cone was then glued with a glue gun to the tray. I next added red shredded paper as "grass". Because I knew this would get moved around, I used the glue gun to adhere the "grass" and keep it from going everywhere.
Before I added the lollipops, I created a heart topper. For that I punched out a red scallop heart and and regular heart from paper. I added a cuttlebugged embossed tiny heart to finish it off. I made two of these and then glue gunned them to a lollipop stick. This stick went in first. I then added the decorated lollipops all over the cone working my way down.
One suggestion I will make is to work your way around as you go. If you try to load one side up first, the weight will tip it over. I got better with that the second time around with Conor's tree (coming in tomorrow's post).
And now Meg has a cute little tree to show off her Valentine's. I figure once this is emptied of lollipops, I can use pretty paper and maybe make a paper tree out of it for a Valentine's centerpiece. Or if you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
I love these so much!
