Happy Tuesday - it's still chilly here but the sun has been melting the snow on the roofs creating some awesome icicles. Although a couple have fallen and boy, I wouldn't want to be under them! The crashes made me jump!
Today is the last day of school before winter vacation. The kids were so excited as its Cozy Slipper Day. They bring their slippers to school (which we made sure ahead of time that they had - nothing like a md dash out for slippers the night before!). Then during the morning parents bring around hot chocolate and bagels which the kids eat while in their slippers reading books with their book buddies. I was supposed to help out today but with this cold, I felt it was smarter not to infect half the school before vacation. I have yet to help out with this event but it sounds so comforting - one of these years, I'll be there.
Since we are in the midst of holidays, I sent the kids in with a little treat for their friends. In years past, I've had my act together quicker than this year so, by necessity, this year's treats were very simple. I saw the idea for candy cane covers on Splitcoast and as soon as I saw it, I knew that would be what I would do.
I sent Mo out in the snow on Saturday to pick me up some candy canes. Luckily, he found exactly what I needed.
These covers are 2x3 inches. You round the corners and then using the slit punch, create a slit in the top and the bottom. The cover then slides right over the candy cane. This has to be done carefully though - the candy is just wide enough to rip the covers if you aren't careful.
I then stamped and punched out this little snowman. I colored him with markers and taped him onto the covers.
All 50 of these were done in just a couple of hours and ready to go in this week without too much stress on my part.
Here is just a small bunch of the final product. I had these already bagged up and didn't want to take everything apart again to take pictures. Imagine 50 of them instead of just 7.
Well, I'm watching the clock and its almost time to pick up the kids from school. Hope you have a spectacular day!
We get mega icicles here as well!
These are so cute!
Have a very Merry Christmas!
