I looked out the window this evening at 5:30pm at it was pitch dark. Bummer. I'm totally convinced that winter wouldn't be half as depressing if it wasn't dark all the time.
What a busy day today. Between my two posts today, I went to church, did 5 loads of laundry, froze my toes off at the football game Meg was cheering at and made a set of personalized notecards. I am now officially posting my last Halloween project of the year. This morning I showed the treats that went to Meg's class. Here are the treats that went to Conor's class.
I have been completely entranced with those spider peppermint patties. I wanted to make those for Halloween but my dilemma came from the fact that most kids do not like peppermint patties. I was shopping in the candy aisle at BJ's and found a huge container of ring pops. Kindergartners and ring pops - there's a combination sure to please. These pops fit perfectly into small candy bags I had so I decided to go the topper route.
I embossed black cardstock with the spider folder in the cuttlebug. I then dry brushed the webs with white acrylic paint. Once dry I stapled them to the bags in the center of the web so when the spiders went on, the staples wouldn't be visible.
The spiders were really easy to make. I used the scallop circle for the body. Since I don't have the Stampin' Up photo corner punch I went with the Quikutz photo corner die. The nose is a punch (don't know the name) and I went with goggle eyes rather than circle punches for the eyes. I thought those would be more fun to the kids. Attach the spider to the web and there you go. Like my kit kat Frankies, these are not difficult but are time consuming.
And here are my herd of spiders. What do you call a group of spiders? Anyone know?
And that officially ends the Halloween season for me. Hope your day went well!
What do you call a herd of spiders? A NIGHTMARE! Although yours are cute...but IRL...NIGHTMARE!!! :)
