I cruise a lot of online galleries, look at a lot of blogs and try to check in with new magazines as they come out. There are lots of cards that catch my eye. Whether its a color scheme or a layout or a cool use of a certain stamp, I draw a few sketches to use part of the idea at a future time. Sometimes the card that catches my eye is just something so "me" that I will CASE it. Very rarely do I copy it to an exact "t", so to speak, but there are times when I come close.
About a week back or so on splitcoast, there was the cutest card by jennelf. It was such a "me" type of card that I made close notes on it. And I will admit that my finished product comes pretty darn close to hers. But since I just like this little card so much, I made it (and giving proper credit where credit is due).
I changed a few things but not too many. The top red block is actually stamped a canvas background in red and rather than plain white ribbon I found that I had this cute little blue stripe that just screamed nautical to me so I just had to use it. The lighthouse is from Yvonne Albritton (which are really cute stamps if you've never checked them out).
Tomorrow is the big b-day party for my mom that I'm hosting. I'm doing a "no rain" dance in the morning since we've got 40 people coming and I really need to be able to send them out to the back yard to spread them out. I won't be doing much stamping but I have a few other posts in mind so if I can get to the computer, I'll fill you in. Night!
What a great card! I love the embossed waves.
