Meg, who is five, when asked what she wants to be when she grows up, always answers a crafter like mommy. Mo isn't always thrilled with that answer because he wants her to be a lawyer like himself(and man, she does have a talent for convoluted thinking!) but no dice for him. Meg recently impressed me enough to devote a blog entry, and a contest, to her.
Next to my computer I have paper where I write down ideas, color combos, sketches, or whatever else comes to me when I'm surfing. The other night Meg was hanging out next to me when she started to draw on my sketch papers. What she ended up drawing was a sketch. And I have to say, for a 5 year old, a pretty darn good sketch too. I also have to add that of the other sketches already on the paper, NONE of them are remotely similar to what she drew which impressed me even more.
So, I'm going to have a little sketch contest. Using Meg's sketch, make a card and link it back to here. On Monday, I will randomly draw a winner from those who choose to play. I'm not sure what the rpize will be but I have a couple of ideas brewing in my head and will let you know in a day or two. Here's the sketch:
I really hope you'll play along - Meg loves to craft and she will get a kick out of seeing other crafters use her sketch!
I will keep her posted on a daily basis to see what great things you all come up with.
I whipped up something quickly using the sketch loosely. I've been having a problem with inspiration lately so I will definitely make another attempt since I'm not sold on this one.
This card originally was going to be a whole lot redder but I just wasn't feeling it so I took the colors in the stamped image and went with those as a color scheme. I think I like this in the sense that its not girly colors. I have a tendency to make all my "love" cards really girly and this is definitely not.
The tree is from Stamping Bella, the sentiment is from River City Rubber Works and the paisley background is from Cornish Heritage Farms.
Alright, your turn!

Meg, I'm going to make a card for you and I'll post here when it's done. You drew a fine sketch, sweetheart.
