The UHU Glue Stick

A couple of weeks back, someone pointed out Maria Filosa's UHU Project Blog. Besides some fun craft projects, I also learned that UHU will send crafters samples of their glues in exchange for honest reviews. I contected UHU and they sent me two samples of their products. The first is their glue stick.

Uhu_glue_stick I had never used UHU adhesives before so I was happy to give them a try. These glue sticks are larger in width than your traditional glue sticks. I liked their heftiness - it made it easier to hold and work with. The glue goes on purple (hello, my favorite color, points just for that!) so you can see where you put it and then dries to clear.

For this project, I decided to make a coaster box and use the glue stick to adhere the paper to the chipboard coasters. Now, I've tried these boxes a couple of times and have not had success adhering the paper. In the original tutorial, it says to used Mod Podge to adhere the paper. This was messy and my coasters kind of warped. I tried paper adhesive on a second try and it was still messy. The glue stick contained the mess nicely and went on easily.

Img_1629_2 The patterned paper was glued onto the coasters with the UHU glue stick. I was really happy with the ease with which these sticks got the job I needed done. I would definitely recommend these glue sticks for paper projects. On a kids crafting note, these were easy for my kids to use and worked well for their projects too.

In regards to the coaster box....the shamrocks are a quickutz die. I ran them through the xyron for easy adhesion. I used my trusty Japanese Screw Punch to make the holes for the ribbon. That's the first time I've used that little - kind of fun actually and it cut through those coasters without any trouble. I finished my project with the second glue sample, just need to "pretty" it up some and get some pictures of it to show you.
